Quick take: Before you react to a crypto headline, label it as policy, product, or price. Only then compare it with what your iPhone actually shows.

Step 1 — Name the story type

If the title only has a percentage and an emotion word, it is usually a price story — useful as context, weak as a reason to act.

Step 2 — Ask “compared to when?”

Writers pick the timeframe that makes the chart look dramatic. Your phone widget may use a different window. Both can be “true” and still disagree.

Step 3 — Match the screen to the claim

Open your tracker and check: same asset? same quote currency (USD vs USDT)? live or delayed? If you cannot map the headline to a number on your phone in 20 seconds, wait — do not chase the story.

A simple example

Headline: “Bitcoin rebounds 4% after selloff.” Your widget: −1.8% today. Translation: the rebound is real on a short timeframe; the day session still includes the earlier drop. Nothing mysterious — just different clocks.
